Vilem Kriz

The Czech photographer Vilem Kriz (1921-1994) was one of a score of European artist/photographers displaced to the United States by World War II who would eventually change the course of American photography. Like André Kertész, Lisette Model and Robert Frank, he brought with him the fresh discoveries of The New Photography in Europe and a strong foundation in Surrealism.

This exhibition spans Kriz's career from Prague to Paris to Berkeley, containing what he felt to be his best work.
