ISSEI SUDA
Born in Tokyo, Suda received his first camera from his father upon entering the Tokyo College of Photographer, from which he graduated in 1962. In 1967 he began working for the theatrical troupe Tenjo Sajiki, directed by the poet-playwright Terayama Shuji. Through Suda’s images they wished to express the mysteries of everyday life, a theme Suda would pursue throughout his career. In 1971, he made the changeover to freelance and has traveled and been published widely since then.
