Suzanne Opton's color photographs have a painterly aesthetic, a
quality emphasized by her saturated palette. Her classic mode is
almost invariably combined with a subtle, and sometimes overt,
sense of humor. She is most well known for her homages to
feminine naturalism, with models ranging from slim beauties to
Ruben's preferred body type, and, again, mixed with amusing
anecdote.
Over the years Opton's images have appeared in such esteemed
publications as SEE, Orion, New York Times, LIFE Magazine, Time,
Newsweek and Fortune. Works by Suzanne Opton are included in the
museum collections of the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris and The
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She currently lives and works in
New York City.
