The Photography of Dance

The S K Josefsberg Studio is pleased to present an exhibition of Vintage and Contemporary Photography focused on the theme of Dance, on view at the gallery June 6 - July 14, 2001.

This exhibition of The Photographs of Dance will feature images ranging from portraits of esteemed dance moguls such as Mikhail Baryshnikov and Martha Graham to the spontaneous celebratory waltzes and sambas of common practitioners.

Artists to be included in this ensemble are: Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Horace Bristol, Robert Doisneau, Robert Demachy, Larry Fink, Mario Giacomelli, Lois Greenfield, André Kertész, Herman Leonard, Annie Leibovitz, Gjon Mili, Inge Morath, Barbara Morgan, Martin Munkacsi, Mario Cravo Neto, Herb Ritts, Sebastião Salgado, Kwong Chi Tseng, Weegee and others.

A few of the noted celebrities featured will be: Fred Astaire, George Balanchine, Martha Graham, Bill T. Jones, Jose Limon, Alicia Moikova, Jerome Robbins and Twyla Tharp among others. Also, from ballrooms to the disco and even the town square, viewers will catch glimpses of the uninhibited joys of dance experienced and expressed by anyone, if not simply everyone.
